Gaycrash-CanberraGaycrash Canberra is part of the worldwide Guerrilla Gaybar Movement.

Once a month, we take over the coolest/dodgiest Canberra straight bar we can find, for one night only (the night of your life). Think flashmob meets the French Revolution meets Gaga/Ke$ha. And you're invited, as long as you're queer/love queers, and game for a great night.

Trick is, we don't announce our shindig's digs until the day of the party - we don't wanna give them any notice. So, the only way to know where to go for the party is to like us on Facebook, follow us on twitter, and connect with your friends on Foursquare (you’ll find out why on the night)

WHY?/MODUS OPERANDI

1. The gay scene in Canberra is nowhere near as flashy as that of Sydney and Melbourne. So many of us are caught up with life that few of us are ever confronted with a person/place outside his or her own narrow demographic. At the end of the day, we have one powerful, common, uniting bond. Cheers to that.

2. Canberra is a quiet, but cosmopolitan city, with more to see and explore than any one of us could ever do in a lifetime, yet hardly a week goes by that we don't hear someone complaining about how sick they are of the Cube, or how nothing ever happens here. Well shit happens and this is where it starts :-) Only boring people are bored so lets think outside the box. Or inside the box. Freak him freak her whatever your choice

3. The heteros are taking over the Cube anyway... Which I don’t mind, but I’m not a fucking zoo exhibit for knobs that get kicked out of Mooseheads. Yes, that is a guy in drag. Yes, some guys kiss outher guys. No I don’t need an audience.

4. Do you have a cafe/bar/club/venue in this city that you LOVE, yet always thought it would be even more fun packed with fun homos? IF SO, SUGGEST IT AS A VENUE FOR OUR NEXT PARTY.

5. Cause being outrageous, taking people outside their comfort zones and having fun is fun...

6. WE THE GAYS, decree, that one night a month, we will take over the coolest/dodgiest bar we can find in greater Canberra for one night only, without any warning. Think of it as gay affirmative action. For this night, our presence will be a new and fun experience for you, the bar’s patrons, and allow you to check out a venue you might not otherwise check out. Only with the gay scene you've always wanted. Then, the next night, it's back to normal for another month.
