Meet Top Male Model Dennis Van den Eijk

Dennis Van den Eijk is a top model from the Netherlands.  It’s no surprise he’s a blond, tall, muscular, built and very handsome man.

Dennis has been on the cover of a magazines and in public advertisements. If there is something that can define Dennis, it’s how brutally honest and very sincere he can be about his ideas and life. He likes to “live life to the fullest,” and that is his quote and trade mark. Most guys, when thinking about a model are thinking about everything that is glamorous, but after seeing so many model “reality” TV shows you can find another meaning for “reality.”

This is Dennis, nothing more nothing less.

How did you start in the modeling business? Were you discovered, was it a coincidence or did you want to be a model?
A good friend of me made some pictures and turned out to be pretty and I was asked personally to do a paid shoot for a paid job, then a another good pic was coming out of the shoot put that online and so I got a good portfolio and I started to pass some agencies and Tony Jones took me right away. I did a test shoot and that first real shoot with a very good photographer gave me my 2 best pictures ever.

DennisvandenEijkHow old were you in that time?
I was for 6 years working for the government, anti terrorism unit, swat team leader. I am doing this now for 3 years and the last 2 years was with Tony Jones and then the real modelling started.

Was it a big jump moving from working in the government to being a model?
I did it at the same time and I was like 22 or something. I stopped working with the government the last year. I am pretty old thought but I look thank GOD younger. I am 28 already.

Tell us about your work in the swat team!
Yes for 1 year to be a sergeant and the swat team and then I worked for the government for 2 years bringing back and picking up criminals around the world.

Your work was full of risk, danger and discipline; did it help to have that discipline in your modeling career?
Yep. I never quit. I am a black and white guy. I do something and try to be the best at tit, or I don’t do it at all that is called personality. I am between Libra and Scorpio. Scorpio is the bad boy style and Libra the soft and caring person. I am in between a softy and caring bad boy.

You are a very passionate person and as you wrote in your profile life is to live the fullest with drive and passion. Is that true with all aspects of your life?
Yes, all or nothing. I loose myself in relationships etc, in work, in friends.

Do you try to express that in your work when the photographer is shooting you?
Of course, you see my eyes huh in every picture…that is my thing, my trade mark, my eyes.

DennisvandenEijk7Some believe a modeling career is full of excitement, glamor and fun. How true is that?
Depends on the model and of course you see a lot of drugs invited by a lot of people to come to parties but do you want to enter, that depends on the person. I did some crazy shit.

Like what?
I had some model girls, playboy girls, drunk a whole week, drugs. Shit I am too honest. Just occasionally did some drugs but a joint is also drugs and I live in Amsterdam so….legal here huh but not good for the readers or my image.

But honesty is a good thing to show, see Kate Moss.
Yeah but still I did it not that much, just for fun. Occasionally so I think you should try everything at least once.

Can a model really have honest and real friends in the fashion business as it’s such a very competitive and wild world?
Not for boys. How honest do you want me to be?

Go ahead.
The gay models are worse than girls have a lot of hate and competition. Straight guys are cool to each other, relaxed, no pressure and they are happy for each other, that is how I see it from my experience and I have traveled a lot so not only in the states or here but everywhere.

Are you comfortable around gay models?
Yep all the photographers and stylists are gay. My agent is gay and I can say he is one of my best friends ever! I got a lot of gay friends I even kiss them on the mouth and cheeks but never kissed intimately with a guy.

Did they try to flirt with you?
Almost everybody but they know I am straight, tall and muscular and they don’t try it. Only one guy from the Dutch Holland next top model photographer and then my experience in martial arts were pretty convincing that he won’t try it again.

You said, “I think you should try everything at least once.” Would you try to discover that part of you with a man only to see how is it?
No, because there are no feelings, in reasonable things I mean that. I never would suggest you should do EVERYTHING!!! Because then I can mention some sick thoughts not gonna happen.

What has been the best experience so far in your modeling career?
The best experience was in New York. That was the bomb! The bomb going out every night treated like a royalty, vip, met a dozen of famous persons, very nice.

What famous people have you met?
LL Cool J, Paris Hilton, every body form America’s next top model, etc.

I see two faces in the entertainment business. On one hand unreal and on the other real.  In your experiences, what would you do and not do?
What haven’t I don’t I will always be myself not trying to pretend to be better that is it and i am a crazy person I can do crazy things but still in reasonable acts.

Crazy things like what?
Curious!!! Just go wild dance my ass off and treat the real famous people like they are my friends, so I say what I think to them so if they act cocky then I say that to them too honest but hey that is just me, that is what I am: a mirror.

You started with Tony Jones Model Management in the Netherlands, how was it?
Amazing he does everything for his models.

Did you have someone that can consider a mentor?
Tony Jones told me a lot like be yourself and stay yourself.

You worked for different campaigns in the fashion industry, editorial and runways, what kind of model work do you like the most?
Runway, the rush you get, the photographers, everybody is looking at you. Yeah, I love it.

What was your best runway experience?
The big shod for Tommy Hilfiger. I always do the underwear site of a brand. They want me for my body most of the time.

When you are naked in the mirror what do you like the most the least about your body?
It is a funny question. I am proud of my whole body; don’t like my legs, a little bit too small. I like my eyes the best I think.
