And the winner of the 2010 Gay Car of the Year is Fiat 500C.

What's up with Italian cars? For the last four years, vehicles belonging to Italy's Fiat Group have been selected by Ledorga, the organizers of a annual meeting for gay vintage car enthusiasts (yes, gay vintage car enthusiasts) as the European Gay Cars of the Year.

The four are the Alfa Romeo Spider (2007), Fiat 500 (2008) and Alfa Romeo MiTo (2009). For this year, as you already read in the title, the award goes to yet another Fiat, the 500C.

Of course, as we normally do, we wondered what drove Ledorga to choose the 500C. Below is the reasoning behind the choice, a reasoning worthy of Einstein, as they say.

"So, the following calculation, Einstein worthy, can be done: FIAT 500 + convertible + nostalgia + renowned design + friendly snout = FIAT 500C! Someone simply had to do the math and FIAT did..."

More eloquently put, the choosing of the "chubby-face" (their words) as the 2010 winner is based on the new model's resemblance to the original car and its unique full-length canvas sunroof that stretches from the top of windscreen to the tailgate.

To get the title, the 500C (125 points) had to take on the Aston Martin DBS Volante (winner of the title in 2006), the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider and the Toyota iQ. The Volante followed closely behind (105 points), while the Toyota iQ bottomed the top three with 80 points.

Further analyzing the top ten, we see the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider coming in 4th, the Abarth 500 fifth and the Audi A5 Cabriolet ranking sixth. Surprisingly, the electric Tesla Roadster was voted into eight place, while the very unlikely Chevrolet Camaro forced its way into tenth place.
