WA ALP PRO-GAY MARRIAGE VOTE ADDS MOMENTUM AHEAD OF NATIONAL CONFERENCE The West Australian ALP State Conference has passed a motion calling on the ALP National Conference to support same-sex marriage. The motion had the backing of ALP State leader, Eric Ripper. Similar motions have been passed in Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, Northern Territory and a motion in support of marriage equality still stands in Victoria. The ALP Women's network has also recently passed a motion of support for marriage equality (details here). Alex Greenwich, National Convener of Australian Marriage Equality, welcomed the motion saying "This motion ensures that the majority of Western Australians who support marriage equality will have their views represented at the ALP National Conference in December" Mr Greenwich declared the passing of this motion is another win for ALP rank and file: "This is an exciting time for the grass roots members of the ALP who have been actively campaigning for marriage equality"
