Amy-WinehouseTroubled British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London flat on Saturday afternoon!

The 27-year-old was dead by the time emergency services arrived. Police were called to the house around 4pm but Amy was dead when they arrived.

The cause is yet to be identified, with Superintendent Raj Kohli of London Police telling media: "No post mortem has taken place and it would be inappropriate to speculate on a cause of death."

"On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed, and we can confirm it was Amy Winehouse," Kohli added. "The death of any person is a sad time for friends and family, especially in the case of a person such as Amy Winehouse, who was known both nationally and internationally."

Winehouse's career has been littered with her highly publicized battle with drugs and alcohol, stints in rehab and her divorce from husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

After triumphant success early in her career with her album 'Back To Black receiving critical acclaim, Amy's music career has been on hold while she attempted to rehabilitate herself, with a 2011 comeback tour scrapped after an awful gig she did earlier in the year.

Her body was removed from the house late Saturday night as hundreds of saddened fans held a vigil outside her home.

It's expected that an autopsy will be carried out today.

Winehouse joins a host of other musos who died at age 27, including Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Source: http://www.take40.com/news
