Pink "Coming Out" Story Not True
Grammy winner Pink “came out” as bisexual over the weekend in an interview with News of the World. The singer now reveals that the interview was a total fabrication, but stops short of clarifying its content.
Pink (whose birth name is Alecia Moore) took to Twitter over the weekend, writing, "I just read that I'm bisexual. So 1991. Good thing people write articles about me so I can get my facts (straight)."
She followed that posting with a video chat on PerezHilton.com, in which she responded to the fabricated interview, saying: "If I were gay, do you think I’d really have a problem coming out? There’s nothing wrong with being gay. There’s nothing wrong with being bisexual. I’d would be waving my fucking flag all over the place, but it’s not my truth, so I have to defend my truth."
The singer has previously discussed her relationships with women. A longtime supporter of LGBT rights, Pink was photographed at several rallies following California's passing of Prop. 8.
The fake interview, which ran over the weekend, quotes the singer as saying, "I'm not embarrassed about being bisexual. This is who I am. Love is pure and I try to keep it that way. This is who I am, what I feel. I think it's unnecessary to draw the subject out, but I think it even more stupid not to discuss it. It seems as if bisexuality is a trend and I should whip up the masses. Well, I don't believe in trends, I just believe in me."
Pink, who recently reconciled with her husband Carey Hart, allegedly went on to say, "I would also be just as happy with a new woman. I'm not complicated, I sing about love in all its shapes, forms and colors."
