I always feel like a big cloud has lifted from my mind when spring finally makes it back into my life. I’m not a lover of the cold and if it wasn’t going to possibly destroy our little blue planet I’d say “Green House Effect — BRING IT ON!!!” I’m so glad it’s heating up. It also means the party season will soon begin, swimming, BBQ’s and long warm nights. Spring also marks the begining of Canberra’s GBLTI SpringOut Festival and Fair Day, where we all get to hang out in the lovely sunshine with friends and celebrate the diversity of our community. You’ll find more infomation and the line up on p13 and p25.
It’s been a very interesting month since the last issue. We have all been working extremely hard in the FUSE office making sure that you get another corker issue and I sure hope we have delivered with FUSE06.
I suppose my favourite part of this month was doing the FUSE photo shoot for this issue’s covers and spring fitness articles. We used local photographer Jimmy Walsh and our wonderful models were Kristy Janszen (p18) and Tal Evans (p22) who braved a chilly spring afternoon in the park. It was real perky nipple weather. I think you’ll all be very happy with the results — we certainly are.
We also had a very fancy FUSE VIP drinks evening at the National Press Club where all the FUSE writers, contributors and supporters got together for a few well earned drinks. A big part of FUSE magazine’s success is built on the efforts of our contributors. So a big shout out and thank you to all of you and also to the Press Club for hosting the evening (p34).
We will be very spoilt over the next month or so with two really great shows to see. Avenue Q opens on 23 October at the Canberra Theatre, and I’m very excited that we have the hit gay play Porcelain coming to The Street Theatre from 3 November. On p24 you’ll find our Porcelain show preview from our new theatre boffin, Robert Henderson.
On a last note, we have some great give-a-ways. Tickets to Avenue Q and Porcelain, plus of course our regular DENDY double passes. How can you get your hands on them? Best letter to the editor or sign up for the FUSE EXTRA! enews from the website for a chance to win win win!
Enjoy, Alex
