Zoe-Badwi

Zoe Badwi is the Aussie songstress who rocked our worlds with the top ten hits ‘Release Me’ and ‘Freefallin’’. And that world-rocking continues with the release of her debut album Zoe, out early August. ‘There is blood, sweat and tears that’s gone into this puppy,’ she explains excitedly, ‘and I’m proud as punch’.

Having recorded the majority of it locally, with some help from the likes of TV Rock and Rogue Traders, she describes the album as ‘Very ME!’ And when it’s suggested that for an Australian production, her sound is very international, she laughs and says in her best Kath & Kim voice, ‘I sound a bit fancy, don’t I!’

Now Zoe reveals some of her intimate secrets and gory details as she dares to take… the FUSE Magazine ONE OR THE OTHER Challenge!

FUSE: For a night in with mates is it Red Wine or White?

ZOE BADWI: Neither. It’d be beer. (Yells raucously) BEER!

F: When you’re cleaning the house is the soundtrack Pop or Rock?

ZB: Pop. Definitely.

F: When you’re smashing it at the gym is it Britney or Gaga?

ZB: Yeah, you know I will hit the gym one of these days… Theoretically if I went to the gym it’d be Gaga. Or Rihanna.

F: Pet preference - Cats or Dogs?

ZB: (Gets very flustered) Ooh, I don’t know. I’m not very good with poo, so I’d have to go… Oh, I don’t wanna say cats. I like ‘em both! Can I say both? I have to say both.

F: Toast in the morning – Peanut Butter or Vegemite?

ZB: Vegemite. I actually just had two pieces before as an afternoon snack.

F: If you have a party pash, is it with a Boy or with a Girl?

ZB: A boy. (Laughs) Boring, I know.

F: Culture Capital – London or New York?

ZB: I like New York, cos there’s so much to do. But I do like Top Shop in London though. I like that a lot!

F: When you’re having a 60s flashback, do you go Beatles or Stones?

ZB: I’d have to say Beatles, cos I had to learn a few of their songs in school. I had to sing ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’ and I got an A-plus, so it turned out alright.

F: Guilty viewing pleasure – Next Top Model or Dancing With The Stars?

ZB: (Breaks into Next Top Model theme song) Wanna be on top! (Breaks into Tyra Banks impersonation) ‘You gotta learn respect – Top Model!’ That’s how she says it, Tyra! Not that I’ve ever seen it… (Laughs)

F: Which has shopping – Melbourne or Sydney?

ZB: I’d have to say Melbourne, cos I know it better. I know where to go.

F: Preferred holiday destination – Tropical resort or …

ZB (Jumps in before hearing the alternative) YES! RESORT! I love to tan. If I get two days off, get me out there.

F: Who has the easier job – Models or Popstars?

ZB: Hmm… they’re both hard. But I’d like to just say models have it easier. I work hard, man. If I got to stand there and just take photos it’d be lovely!

F: Night out with that special someone – Cabaret or Clubland?

ZB: Let’s go cabaret. I’m always in the club, so it’d be nice to go cabaret. (Laughs) Are you taking me…?

F: Lastly, what does Zoe Badwi want to tell the world?

ZB: I’m not very tech savvy. I save everything onto my desktop. (Laughs) And could you PLEASE buy my album August 5th? Get behind Australian music! A girl’s gotta eat!

The album Zoe is out August 5th. The single ‘Carry Me Home’ is out now. Available at ll good muisic stores and itunes.
