Transgender people are like nuclear weapons
Up to now Pope Francis have been very open and progressive in matters concerning the gay and lesbian community. Unfortunately it seems he doesn’t extend this to the transgender community. It's somewhat baffling and I'm sure very upsetting to millions of Transgender people who struggle every day with their gender.
POPE Francis has said he isn’t in a position to judge gay people. However that clearly doesn’t extend to the transgender community.
In a new book where he speaks about gender theory Pope Francis compares genetic manipulation and nuclear weapons.
“Let’s think of the nuclear arms, of the possibility to annihilate in a few instants a very high number of human beings,” Pope Francis stated in the book Pope Francis: This Economy Kills, according to the National Catholic Reporter.
“Let’s think also of genetic manipulation, of the manipulation of life, or of the gender theory, that does not recognise the order of creation.”
“With this attitude, man commits a new sin, that against God the Creator,” he adds.
“The true custody of creation does not have anything to do with the ideologies that consider man like an accident, like a problem to eliminate,” he said. “God has placed man and woman and the summit of creation and has entrusted them with the earth. The design of the Creator is written in nature.”
It is a somewhat surprising view given Pope Francis reportedly met with transsexual man Diego Neria Lejárraga of Spain, 48, just last month, after the latter wrote to the Pope saying he felt shunned by his local priest who called him “the devil’s daughter”.
“It was a marvellous, intimate and unique experience. What happened in that meeting, what was said, is something that will remain between us, the ones that participated, since this is something I want to live with the utmost intimacy,” Mr Lejarraga told Spanish newspaper Hoy.
Pope Francis has been widely praised for being one of the most progressive pontiffs in history.
