Into the Light by Daniela Koulikov
Into the Light is the debut poetry collection from Australian writer Daniela Koulikov, exploring themes of love, heartache, and self-acceptance. This collection is for anyone who has ever felt caught between who they are and who they thought they had to be.
What if the hardest person to be honest with… was yourself?
A note from the author…
For many of us, the hardest person to be honest with is ourselves. Into the Light began as a reflection project, but it quickly evolved into something more.
I started journaling in the form of poems. I would spend Sunday mornings writing about joys and truths that felt easier to put on paper than to say out loud. Poetry became a way to sit with those feelings, and over time, it helped me better understand myself.
Structured in three parts, The Stars, The Moon, and The Sun, the collection follows a journey of personal growth.
The Stars explores the beginnings of love: wonder, hope, and the subtle ways we can lose ourselves in other people.
The Moon turns inward, moving through challenging times, denial, and the weight of internalised expectations.
The Sun represents acceptance, joy and return: the decision to come home to yourself.
At its heart, Into the Light is about the journey of finding inner peace. It asks what we silence to be loved and what it costs us to keep doing so. It explores the joy of letting go of it all and reclaiming your voice and identity.
Most of all, it is about recognising that healing is not one single moment, but a series of small, deliberate choices that can set you free.
After all, the greatest love story you will ever have is the one you cultivate with yourself.
