The amendment of the federal Marriage Act in Australia happened on 9 December 2017 and gave same-sex couples the same right to marry as heterosexual couples. It was the culmination of decades of campaigning by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and asexual (LGBTIQA+) communities and their supporters. Christina Wilkins who is a lecturer in Film and Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham, writes about three wonderful films that celebrate equal love.
