Do you (or someone you know) think about suicide?

When life doesn't seem worth living anymore, it may seem that the only way to find relief is through suicide. When you're feeling this way, it may be hard to believe, but you do have other options. Start by talking to someone now.

Let's Talk... We are here to help you! If you - or someone you know - are thinking about about suicide then talking to somebody that you trust is a good start, but there are many things that you can do to keep yourself safe and to work through the tough times.

Talk to someone you trust

This can be a family member or friend, a colleague, teacher, minister, your local doctor, or an anonymous 24-hour telephone counselling service such as Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Stay healthy

Exercising and eating well can help you to feel better and manage difficult life events.

Avoid drugs and alcohol

Many drugs are depressants and can make you feel worse. They don’t help to solve problems.

Write down your feelings

This can help you to understand yourself better and help you to think about alternative solutions to problems.

Avoid being alone

If you are having thoughts about suicide, stay with a family member or friend or have someone stay with you until your thoughts decrease.

Set yourself small goals

This can help you move forward and feel in control.
