Strathnairn Arts Homestead

Strathnairn Arts is a not-for-profit arts association supported by the ACT Government, providing galleries, local makers shops, cafe, working spaces and facilities for a range of artists, craftspeople and community groups.

Strathnairn Arts has a range of spaces suitable for activities and events, with capacities ranging from 10 to 100 people.

Set in a converted 1920s homestead on the north-western outskirts of Canberra, Strathnairn’s 9.5 hectares is host to a Woolshed and Village Hall, all with views towards the Brindabella Mountains. Strathnairn offers artists access to ceramic kilns, the foundry, studios, and the shop.

WHAT'S ON AT STRATHNAIRN ARTS

Strathnairn Arts has a strong community of artists working in diverse mediums. Painters, sculptors, potters, textile artists, printmakers, wood workers and installation artists all use this rural setting as their base.

Located within the Homestead is the shop, which displays and sells a range of handmade works by local artists.

The Artist in Residence program enhances the artistic working environment through workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations and other activities. A full program of exhibitions runs throughout the year including an Annual Members Exhibition, showcasing the work of members.

Venue Hire

If you are a looking for a place to host small group art activities or run an arts workshop for larger groups, Strathnairn Arts has a range of spaces to suit. Sorry Strathnairn Arts venues are not available for party hire!

Cafe Stepping Stone

Café Stepping Stone is a community-driven vegetarian kitchen located in the Homestead building at Strathnairn. Serving refreshed café classics with an emphasis on locally grown produce and striving to connect with other ethical and small businesses. The cafe can supply catering to events held at Strathnairn.

Strathnairn Gallery, Shop, Café and Artist in Residence accommodation are set in a converted 1920s homestead on the western edge of Canberra near the Murrumbidgee River.
